My creative goal is to make a simply beautiful work to capture viewers' initial awe, with details and a hint of narrative that they can discover or imagine stories behind it over time. The process starts with setting up a scene based on my imagination for a reference. Featuring people and objects that actually exist around me is a key to keep my imaginative concept from looking too surrealistic, so the viewers can feel more connected with my work. My children, dolls and miniatures are good example of my objects.
As a result of my detail-focused style, I also receive inquiries on portrait commissions with no reference photos that I can simply replicate. I find power in my art not only when it turns my own imagination but also people’s memories into a physical form that we can see with our own eyes.
