Statement

I am a figurative realist who is inspired by people and history. I mainly work with oil and charcoal to create dreamy figures, portraits, occasional landscapes and still-life. Although I am a realist, my goal is not to achieve photo-perfection but to enhance beauty and story with focused details. I also take commissions to create portraits. It is great pleasure for me to be allowed to work on something so personal and means a lot to my clients.

Biography

Maeve Cook is a fine artist based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born in Japan in 1989. After having her first child, she moved to Carmel, IN in 2016 then to Fort Wayne later that year with her husband, children and two Pomeranians. She has always loved art and music but those did not meet favour of her family. Without her family's support, she has never had formal training in art. However after receiving numbers of encouragements over years, Maeve finally decided to take her art as her professional career at 29 years of age in October 2018.

Other than being an artist, despite her lack of support from her family for education, Maeve achieved to be an orchestral violinist and a linguist for profession before she found her true passion in art.

In her personal life, Maeve loves just about anything to do with art & creativity. She is a latin dancer who dresses in 50's fashion. She lives in a century old house, and keeps journals with her favourite fountain pen on her favourite antique desk. She is also a seamstress who sews vintage style clothing to fit her fairy petite figure. Her appreciation to "past" is greatly reflected in her artworks.
